Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an evidenced-based psychological approach that helps people recognize and dispute illogical thoughts.

CBT describes the brain like a computer with bad software, and once the software has been corrected, a person’s life will become more reality based. CBT works best for analytical the thinker.

Addiction Consulting

Action and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is the only psychological approach that has an actual theory that can be tested in the laboratory.

ACT helps people move from inflexible thinking, to flexible thinking. A primary goal of ACT is to help you start and maintain a meaningful life. ACT is best with emotional-driven people.

Trauma Therapy

It is unfortunate that the majority of trauma therapy does not rely on the evidenced-based scientific approaches

that have been in existence for over 40 years (see the American Psychological association website for trauma therapy recommendations). Trauma therapy that is not evidenced-based can cause additional trauma if it fails. Only evidenced-based trauma therapy is offered by peace or pain counseling.

Addiction Therapy

The approach to addiction therapy is evidenced-based and uses a scientific protocol developed for addiction programs

in three major jails, and work with numerous clients (success rate of 72% to 76% over 15 years). Unlike the majority of addiction approaches today (for example  “the hit bottom theory”), this protocol is based on positive reinforcement, not negative. The approach is not 12 steps.
